TOPIC: Tomorrow's Gone
#517
Tomorrow's Gone 5 Years, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
OK. I guess I'll post the lyrics to a song I recently wrote. It's called:

Tomorrow's Gone:

Tomorrow's gone, I let it slip away
I just stood by, there's nothing more to say
We shared such love, now all that's left is sorrow
If only time could bring back yesterday

CHORUS:
Tomorrow's gone, another wasted day
Now all that's left are dreams that fade away
When darkness comes, no light will show the way
If only time could bring back yesterday

We had our chance and let it get away
Now we're apart, I miss you more each day
If only you could take away my sorrow
If only time could bring back yesterday

CHORUS:

IF the future hods some hope for me
I'll embrace it, I won't set it free
Now once more I'll take the time to say
If only time could bring back yesterday

CHORUS:

To me, lyrics tell less than half of the story. I find them interesting but totally missing the point it they aren't put to a melody that can be captivating on its own.

Hmm, I'm getting a rather melancholic feel from this song. I'm sensing this as sort of a 'breakup song.' Or perhaps a song expressing deep missing of someone/something.

I like the lyrics, they use ideas that have been presented before, true, but they present them in a rather good way. This makes them work. My only knit-pick is it really seemed to have some repetative parts. On paper, it doesn't always look great, but the music can really set it apart, and make it work. I'm guilty of it myself, so I'd really be interested in hearing this some time.

P.S.
guitarstrummin63 started up a topic in Recording The Guitar section to post up any sites you might have your music up on. If you do, be sure to post the link up there so we can all get a listen in.

Here is a short clip of the song. I'm working on recording the whole song. My setup isn't the greatest. I use Audacity software and a cheap usb microphone, plus my voice hasn't recovered from some medications I'm taking with chemo treatments. Not trying to make excuses, since I don't sing very well, anyway. Anyhow, I hope this link works and it will give you a taste of where the melody goes with the lyrics.

It actually sounds very nice. I'm impressed. This wasn't how it sounded in my head, but now I am getting a bit more of an idea for your type of music. I'm really looking forward about hearing the rest of this.

Also, you're voice isn't that bad, it works with your music. I've got the same problem, except mine still sounds horrible.

Anyway, really good job on this little teaser, I'm really looking forward to hearing the rest of this.

I agree completely, I liked this piece very much. To me, as an Englander, it sounded very American - we don't get to hear much proper America sounding music... just the commercial stuff if you get me.
Very refreshing!
I'm looking forward to hearing the full version if you get around to doing it!

By the way, hope you get better soon - my Grandfather had Chemo years back and I can sympathise with you completely, well maybe not completely but yeah get well soon dude.

Thank you for your kind words. I do have a couple more of my originals almost ready and will post them as soon as I get through reviewing and editing (that makes it sound like I'm really doing something - actually I just have to listen to them a couple more times to make sure there are no glaring errors).
