Yamaha HY 10G3Around £89.

Features:

Distortion, volume, mid, treble and bass controls, headphone socket, 10W output.

Construction:

It's well built, possibly a little uninspiring in design. The mains lead is installed internally and can be tidied away nice and neatly in an open cavity at the back of the amplifier.

Sound:

The clean sound is great at lower (bedroom) volume, but it does break up if you run it particularly loud. However, push up the distortion and things really start to cook, and the fuzz is also responsive to the EQ controls. You can get a very good punky sound with this little amp.

Verdict:

Another winner from Yamaha. A straightforward, no-nonsense practise amp with some good sounds.

3 out of 5
