Hi Folks, hope you are all well. Firstly, I would say if you are just learning to play guitar its best not to download these two mp3's as it may put you off. ha ha.

Probably if I were to say the names Albert Lee, and Jerry Reed, several would never of heard of them so I will elaborate a bit.

Albert Lee in my opinion is one of the best guitarist in the world..Albert has been session guitarist for just about every successful country band. When you talk to him he is a very modest guy and not at all big headed. He currently is working for "Earnie Ball" in California During periods of play among others he played with Waylon Jennings in the "Crickets" He uses a lot of single echo and chases himself. boy what a chase. Download his rendition of "Orange Blossom Special" from the link and enjoy, (Dont get dispondent however as playing guitar is for YOUR enjoyment not to compete against others.)

Next Jerry Reed if known at all it would probably be for his role as the "Trucker" in "Smoky & The Bandit" Jerry is more conventional country picker and has lots of humourous songs. Like the one here "Amos Moses"

Two different styles but two great pickers.

Just to re-iterate Forum Policy, we dont normally post file share locations on the forum but this is just a couple of free MP3's

First Albert Lee

Secondly Jerry Reed....Amos Moses

rapidshare.com/files/15282776/Jerry_Reed_-_Amos_Moses.mp3.html

For those of you who have never been to this site here is what to do...Firstly, highlight the above URL's one at a time.
After highlighting an url right click on it and select "Copy" by left clicking on it...then right click in the URL address at the top of your browser select "Paste" and then press enter.

You will then be at the file storage site "Rapidshare" scroll down and click on "Free" in the right hand column , scroll back up, you have to wait a short time and when the time has elapsed you scroll down and put a code that you are asked for in a box then the download starts...dont forget o save it to a folder where you want to keep it.

Jerry Reed I knew about, thanks to my cousin. I'd never heard of Albert Lee until now and was quite happy to finally get to learn some new musicians out there. Its always a pleasure to find a new artist that you can really get in too. Great job on posting this up and helping to get the names of two very talented pickers out there into the community. Good job on this one, man.

Picking wise, any of you guys hear of Paul Gilbert? A current guitarist from American (tours Japan a lot too)

Ex Mr. Big and RacerX guitarist... Look him up on YouTube or similar... His right hand picking technique is AWESOME!

The first person to come to mind would be Jimmy Bruno. He has a phenomenal picking technique. Check out Burnin'. It's self explanatory. The other person that comes to mind is Guthrie Govan. He is one of the most amazing guitarists I've heard. He's excellent in all aspects of guitar playing. His album is called Erotic Cakes.

Jesus Christ! Guthrie Govan is Awesome I have his album, "wonderful slippery thing" is a brilliant track!
One section in it sounds like sweep picking, but actually its his flawless legato technique with tapping (and string skipping for that matter!!)

Brilliant guitarist, British too. He also features on the licklibrary.com DVD's

And if you like those two guys, check out the playing of Lee Hodgson who also happens to teach at the ICMP. A very underrated, unknown player...
