Some folks like to hear the guitar all twangy

Some folks like to hear the guitar all fuzzy

Yet other folks like to hear a guitar that doesn't even sound like a guitar...

what do you prefer?

Hi all and welcome to our site!

Nice way to get the ball rolling Breakfastime, a good conversation starter also.

Hmmm, I've gotta go for the fuzz. Not because I don't like the twang - its because I prefer early rock which was mostly fuzzy.
Back in those early days I think I'm right in assuming that Link Wray invented both distortion and the powerchord!

They used to play on cheap guitars, though crap amps and Link got his sound by accidentally ripping a speaker cone.

After that, guitarists started to deliberately cut their speakers to get the "fuzz"!

hmmm Honestly, i dont prefer either.

When im playing clean, i like it nice and full, and smooth... not too much treble, but not too much bass.

When im playing with distortion... I crank it... and if the distortion is too much , turn the volume down with my footswitch, or volume knob on my guitar.

I dunno.. maybe i'm just not old fashioned. But if im playing something bluesy... i totally just play clean, and use the pickup closest to the neck.

....and i've gotten off topic haha. sorry.

Not a particular fan of the twang that most country holds in it.

The fuzz is good sometimes.

But if you want my love (and my bread and butta) take a listen to some of the clean acoustic stuff. The sort of thing with a nice jazzy feel with some percussive strumming and some nice heavy muting thrown in there. Pretty much listen to anything straight acoustic by Dave Matthews and you've got the sound I've fallen in love with.
