TOPIC: Pickups

I'm thinking about buying new pickups for my guitar. I've picked out a few options, one being the seymour duncan DimeBucker, DiMarzio's or maybe EMG's. I can figure that much out. But the question is this...

How do you install them? Unfortunately I always had a friend who was capable of doing that for me when they went out or somtehing while I was at work and never had the chance to watch the guy in action... sadly i moved and am now trying to figure it out. so in short... HELP.

I don't entirly know the process of it. But I think installing a pick-up is something you might really want to consider letting a professional do, just ask to sit in on it. If its a pick-up from scratch, I'm pretty sure part of the process is actually having to drill a hole into your guitar.

Again, I'd hire someone to do it this last time.

I agree with Mako and suggest going to a professional. But I know my friend helped me out with mine by using this site here. While it is for and acoustic, its a similiar concept for all acoustic and electric guitars. So if you're feeling adventurous, try it out.

You don't need to drill holes!! With the EMGs you get everything you need. They clip onto the new volume and tone pots which they supply and then you're off! EMGs are definatley the easiest. With others you need to take out the other pickups by unscrewing them from the guitar, and unsoldering them from the electronics. Then you just solder the new ones on where the old ones were... It's easier doing them one at a time so you can see where it actually needs to go. It's not very...

The only time you need to drill or re-route is when you're putting a humbucker in a single-coil space...

You could always try stealing. But that has only a 1% chance success rate.
