Hi, everyone. I live in Portland, Texas USA and have a passion for music and photography. I am old, sort of (62) so my user name fits. I play guitar and violin (although we don't refer to them as violins in Texas) Here, we call them fiddles. I mainly play folk and country with acoustics. I have one acousitc/electric, but I seldom play plugged in. The main thing I'm trying to do now, is to get my songwriting skills honed. I have three acoustic guitars (2 Martins and a classical Yamaha) as well as a Knilling violin. That's about it. This seems like it might turn out to be a first class web site and a great place for pickers to hang out.

Welcome aboard mate. I'm only 16 myself, so I look forward to possibly learning something from you. I'm sure I could learn alot, just by reading a few of your posts, and its really a great honor to have such an experienced musician join the site. I hope you enjoy your stay, and stick around for a while.

Likewise, thank you for joining us and the rest of the team, and we hope you enjoy your stay!
The site is still very much in its infancy, but its becoming a growingly useful place to hang out... I hope that you can stick around and post now and again, I think your wisdom and experience could benefit the younger guys and gals on here just as much as they could benefit the guitar seniors!
Thanks for being a apart of our steadily growing community, Rikki

Bluelew,
Yeah, it's hot here. It'll stay that way until October. As far as the Martins go, I stopped playing guitar for a long long time and swore that if I ever took it up again, I would get a Martin. I've always liked the sound of them. I got an HD-28 around the first of this year. It was simply the best sounding guitar that I ran across and of course that is a very subjective thing. What sounds good to my ears may not to someone else. I also purchased a 000C-16RGTE and there were a couple of reasons. The smaller size is very comfortable to play while lounging and I wanted something that plugged in. The second reason turned out not to be so important as there are very few (in fact none) times that I need to be plugged in to an amp. The 000 also has, to me, a wonderful tone. I wish I had been able to get them earlier in my life, but I just feel fortunate to be able to enjoy them now. Whatever you play, if it gives you pleasure and keeps your creative juices flowing, it's a wonderful thing. Be thankful that you're able to participate in such an inspirational endeavor.

Man, I love those guitars. I've been trying to save up for for an HD-28 but by the time I get to about about $1500. I get an offer I can refuse on something else. I think the triple0 has a really nice tone also. Hey I want one of each for sure, well Happy trails.
