ok now down to buisness...

we need to figure out a way to address the issue that tab sites are being taken down due to 'copyright infringement' without having members panic and send hate mail

there is a site that supports our side of the issue, MuSATO they're called. Their site is http://www.guitarzone.com/musato/, but we can't have angered members going there and disturbing the process if ya feel me.

So any ideas would help as this can become a touchy issue

Anyway, at the moment our site doesn't have any tablature as such yet... I thought about having a proper database for it ages ago and changed my mind due to rumors of sites being pulled.

We'll have to re-think how we use the tab discussion forum...

But in the meantime, what can we do? There isn't much we could do apart from signing up to the MuSATO thing...

Well, as of right now, we'd have little to worry about. We don't actually have a tabulator section as of now, and the discussion is pretty myuch the same as one friend giving another advice, which isn't illegal.

I think signing up with the MuSATO right now is a good idea. But I don't think there is much need to close down the Tab discussion.

Exactly, not much to worry about at the moment, presently - we have "zero" tabs on the site!

What do you think we should do about the tab forum? Use it as a "hey man, what's 5h7 mean??!" kinda forum? Hmm, I think I possibly need to think about the topics...
Any suggestions to add/remove?

I think the forum should feature a 'How To Read Tabs' lesson. To my knowledge there already is a lesson, but alot of people won't bother to check there, and many may just ask about the whole thing.

As for what the rest of it should be, I think it should be along the lines of people should request tabs for songs. Then, the members can work together to get out an accurate sounding tab for the person who requested. Again, I personally don't see any problems with useing tabs, and I think this whole ordeal is pointless, so my opinion on what should be done could possibly be very biased.

I agree, lets forget the whole thing... They can try and sue me! But hink about it, a small new site versus the likes of GTU, 911Tabs etc, I think they'll target them rather than us if there's any (if any) prosecutions!

And if we do get complaints we can simply unpublish the section/make it members only etc...

Hows that! Oh and we could link to the main site lesson for reading tabs (I'll finish it off) from the forum - a sticky possibly...

I agree completely, Rikki. Good call on the whole thing. I think this site'll grow, but tabs aren't our major thing anyway. So I think we're safe.

Nice one, thanks for the support! We just need to keep the sie fresh and up to date, if you have any critisism - please tell me and I'll try and sort it out... the homepage for instance was uncluttered because someone said it could do with being changed!
