Have you ever been blighted with a guitar strap button that always comes loose or even comes out altogether? Then this is the fix for you. With a few simple steps, your guitar will be safe to play standing once again!

You will need:

  • Several matchsticks.
  • A screwdriver.

How to:

  • Remove the offending strap button from the body of your guitar using the correct sized screwdriver. Place the button, screw and felt washer somewhere safe.
  • Push some matchsticks into the hole where the button goes and snap the ends off (match head gets snapped off).
  • Continue until the hole is packed with broken off matchsticks. Make sure they are flush with or just below the surface of the body.
  • Next reattach the strap button. The button is now solid and ready to support the weight of your guitar from the strap, sorted!

This lesson is actually something guitar repair shops don’t want you to know, although this fix is an old furniture makers trick, it works perfectly for fixing guitars.

So don’t take your instrument to a shop - fix it yourself at no cost at all!
