Stupid Strap Knob... 5 Years, 11 Months ago Karma: 0
Okay... So i have an Ibanez RG... my first guitar... the strap knob on the butt-end of it has just.. come off. I have previously used wood-glue to re-fill it and re-tap it.. .and it held rather nicely ... but now it's just not working. Any ideas??

Post edited by: barnum1213, at: 2006/06/02 16:49

wood filler might work, you could also go to an ace harware or home depot and find a fitting that has threads on the inside and it goes into holes, so you can scre the knob in, you can also just fill it, re finish it, and move the pin down or up an inch

I'll give the latter two a try. Thanks a lot.

Have you seen the article on this site about how to easily fix a loose strap button?
Why not do a variation where you use matchsticks (or maybe tooth picks) and glue them in?
It should give a bit more grip perhaps than just glue.....

the matchsticks/toothpicks and wood glue are the way to go, just make sure to leave the glue plenty of drying time and don't cut the matchstick/toothpick until the glue is dry

the toothpick gives the screw that holds the strap button a little more grit to hang on to

good luck with those repairs
