Gibson J45 or Songwiter Deluxe Questions 5 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
Going to buy a Gibson acoustic today Am looking at a J45 and the Songwriter deluxe, I own a Taylor 314 ce and a Martin D-15, The neck on the Taylor is a little wide, I use it more for fingerstyle playing, the Martin neck is thinner and the body (dreadnought) I like alot for the big sound you can coax from it. My question is how do the neck on nthe J45 and the Songwriter deluxe compare....I'm looking for a thinner neck being as I have smaller hands.

Oops sorry I didn't ask my question. What would you pick, and any owners of these guitars I'd love some input and your opinions on why you love rthese guitars:laugh:

I'd go with the taylor, but it's all down to a personal choice. If you're in the $1500 market make sure to play the guitars before you buy them and buy the one you feel FITS YOU the best

oh and I own a taylor 315-ce and love it

well my advice will be the same, play both guitars and see which one fits you

i am not familiar with the gibson songwriter deluxe, so i cannot offer help in deciding which i prefer. but just take a trip to the local guitar shop and spend a couple hours playing both guitars, and others in your price range (you may find something you'll like better). then if you still can't tell the difference between the guitars wait for another day, as you don't want to make the wrong choice going in blind.

sorry about the mixup and cheers on your search,
John

I've played the Gibson J45 before, and I've found it to be a wonderful guitar. Its the sort of one that I would probably buy if I had the money. Also a friend of mine, an aquaintence rather, on another board has told me that J45 is probably one of the most diverse guitars in the world. Just thought I'd give you that much, considering the person who told me is one of the most knowledgable people I know.
